At Zak Architecture, each design develops out of the relationship between the house and site. As the site informs the direction of the house, the house organizes the spatial composition of the site and the experience of the landscape. As an overall site strategy develops, an architectural language emerges. The strength of each project is then entirely dependent on the clarity of that language and the consistency of its use.
Stone House is designed as a collection of intricately assembled stone boxes arranged on the site to create a sense of intimacy with the beach, ocean and warm Pacific air. Buildings are placed on the site to take best advantage of the views while creating intimate garden settings between them.
